Rose McGowan as Linda Lovelace?

I will say this for Rose McGowan, she is embracing any role they throw at her. Attach a machine gun to her leg? Why not? Remake Red Sonja? Of course. Barbarella? Naturally.

And now, McGowan may play one of the biggest porn stars of all time.

We reported a couple of weeks back that Anna Faris walked away of Inferno, after the surprising success of The House Bunny meant she didn't have to take risks right now. McGowan is now lining up to play Linda Lovelace in the film, according to Fox News. The report also reveals that Josh Lucas will play Linda's husband and Bill Pullman has been cast as Hugh Hefner.

Are there benefits here? Sure. To begin with, McGowan permeates sex in a way that Anna Faris doesn't. Faris is a terrific comic actor, but this is a role that requires something extra. Is McGowan up to the dramatic intensity? Well, see, that might be the problem. She's simply not that good an actress. And I just looked over her entire filmography. There's not a lot of evidence to the contrary.

She's OK and the very particular thing she does well she does very well. But she hasn't shown much range. Inferno ultimately transforms Lovelace from a porn star to a born-again Christian, and I'm not sure McGown has the mettle to make that switch believable.

I think your comments are small minded and just winded. You speak and no one hears because they know better. Rose has shown in every flick to be the strong point. Not every movie became best sellers - not by far, but even though the movie was weak - Rose was the one strong point.

Rose dd the impossible on Charmed. Audiences LOVED Shannon Daugherty even though she was not that popular behind the scenes. I was set on disliking whomever took over Shannon's role. Rose came onboard that show and not only changed my mind - I grew to like her even more than Shannon. I think you also find that it was just me that she charmed. It was whomever watch that show.

I've seen her in other stuff as well. She is worthy to follow and I think she'll do fine in this role. I know I will go see it.

that article is shortsighted. she has been , as PB mentioned, the strong point in every movie she made. Instead of wondering why the movies aren't all good, you can better wonder why she played in them. As you said, and she herself too, it is because she takes every role offered. If you are offered later on for an other movie, chance is that you are already busy filming an other movie. She also got best known for charmed, wich lasted till 2006, so telling she's not a good actor is very unfair as she hasn't had chance to proof herself to her fullest. ( everybody starts with a B)

You should watch a short indie flick she did titled "Seed" to see her range. It's not Rose that doesn't have the range, but rather many of the roles she gets are frustratingly narrow. Also, her comedic chops in "Planet Terror", which was really a very funny movie, are nothing to gloss over.
