Michael Douglas to Return to 'Wall Street'?
Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at 6:21AM
Even though
Michael Douglas hasn't signed anything, 20th
Century Fox is reportedly greasing the rails for a sequel to
Wall Street. The timing is either awful of
brilliant, depending on your view of the whole stock market mess, but Fox is
more than willing to roll the dice, according to
Variety.
Allan
Loeb, who wrote Things We Lost in the Fire and the adaptation for 21, is writing the screenplay for the sequel, and
it may be a good fit; Loeb is a licensed stockbroker who once worked at the
Chicago Board of Trade.
So what about Douglas? The story will indeed prominently feature Gordon Gekko,
the role that won Douglas his only acting Oscar. In the film, Gekko "has
recently been sprung from prison and re-emerges into a much more tumultuous
financial world than the one he once lorded over."

Charlie Sheen will not return as Bud Fox, and there is no mention of Oliver Stone coming aboard, although Edward Pressman, who produced the 1987 original with Stone, is resuming his duties.
