'Pirates' Writer Debunks Rumors About Fourth Movie

Terry Rossio, one of the writers of the
Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy, has broken
his silence on the fourth Pirates movie, and much like David Goyer with
the Batman threequel, Rossio says all the internet chatter is completely bogus.
Addressing some of the more outlandish rumors, Rossio added, “Some pretty funny stuff, though. Sacha Cohen? Tim Burton? Studios are way too protective of their franchises for that sort of thing.”
We can argue all day about whether or not a franchise that was at first entrusted to the then-nonexistent box office clout of Johnny Depp would be a form of protection employed by the studio, but I think underneath his actual words, Rossio has a point: Let's not get ahead of ourselves.
The Depp paycheck seemed a little wild, but when you think about what it might take to get him back, $56 million doesn't seem too stratospheric a number for a bank-breaker that has made Disney over $2 billion in the past five years. Rossio hasn't been mentioned in any of the Pirates 4 talk, and though I've heard nothing substantial either way, my gut tells me that they'll strip the fourth movie pretty bare and focus on Captain Jack and one other character. We know Keira Knightley won't be back, and that means Orlando Bloom won't be, either. I would be surprised if Gore Verbinski came back to direct, and at this point, you can go hire new writers to freshen things up.
To that end, The Daily Record says Disney is offering Russell Brand roughly $8 million to play Captain Jack's brother. That's way too much for Russell Brand, so on that basis, I don't know if I buy that particular rumor, but it fits with a game plan for Pirates 4 that is probably the best course of action: All Sparrow, All the Time. But, again, I'm getting ahead of myself...

Yeh, if there's to be any point in making a 4 then they must do the opposite of what they did in 3.
3 was visually very advanced by the story, pace and acting was all wrong. It was jumbled and hard on the nerves.
Mind you Depp must also clown down a bit and do a more serious and hopefully less camp pirate.
I'm sure most pirates didn't act gay.

I am convinced that Johnny Depp is not gay.
You must separate the actor from the role. Through the series of Pirates of the Caribbean 1, 2 and 3 the role of Captain Jack Sparrow has become increasingly clowny and camp, which is a British term for effeminate.
In the first film Captain Sparrow, was played as a rascal who was motoneurally challenged, possibly due to alcohol abuse. But he was manly.
In the next two films he became more and more silly and less and less manly. I think Depp should reverse this role.
My comment about gay was repeated due to the fact that Russel Brand has often and wrongfully been accused of being gay.
So let me state that I am not prejudiced against gay people. I have friends and colleagues who are gay. But I do not want to watch a couple of effeminate pirates mincing around on the big screen in Pirates 4.
What the hell like people what are you talking here. How can Johnny be gay, when he has a wife and two kids. Johnny one of the best actors of all time ! I know not everybody likes him, but like he has brilliant ideas and the pirates triology is because of johnny that good. If there were no captain jack sparrow there wouldn´ t be no pirates of the caribbean. he makes those films good. His jokes, his character. Who ever says he is not a good actor doesn´t know nothing about acting and has never seen such a brilliant character as johnny is made of captain jack sparrow. I can´t tell people that you have to like him in real life, but his acting... just think what to you write in public. Johnny is a great father and has had a difficult childhood. He is not like other Hollywood stars. Like wasting their money don´t now why. He buys with money privacy and wants to protect he´s kids from the media. Soo really people think how many stars do that anyway ? Few i think . Johnny you are the best and keep going the way you are, you have supporters!

However, the way he plays Captain Jack Sparrow has become increasingly camp for each movie. Camp is a term used for men who behave in an effeminate manner.
Depp doesn't do that in real life but as you know he modelled his bizarre patterns of movement on Keith Richards who is marked by alcohol and substance abuse.
But he's been going to far with it because Richards isn't camp but Jack Sparrow is.

Ok guys.... I've been reading this whole conversation and i just was LMAO the whole time. Why don't we all just shut the hell up and give Johnny a break. WE KNOW HE'S NOT GAY!!!!! Get off the damn subject.
And for the record.... Johnny Depp is one of the most talented and extremely gifted actors in Hollywood. When he plays any character, he literally brings them to life and makes you believe that they're real (to me at least). So what if Jack acts silly and stupid at times; that doesn't stop him from being manly. THAT'S part of his character. THAT'S what makes him stand out and unique from all the other characters. It's called characterization, people!!!

Not once have I accused Depp of being gay. I don't even mind gay. What I mind is camp and Depp has gone too far in that direction with Sparrow to the extent that he is acting like a clown.
The suggestion that another effiminate person, i.e. Russel Brand, should join him in Pirates 4 is so seriously alarming that someone has to speak up.

Yes, Lengthy Johnson!!!! We understand what you're trying to say. Now, let's move away from the whole "Johnny's not gay" part to the "Johnny and his character" part.
I honestly think Johnny has done a wonderful job of fulfilling Jack Sparrow's role. Give me one time in all of the three movies when Jack "has or started acting like a clown"........
P.S.- Some of us aren't THAT big of a fan girl, BUT will gladly step up to agifted actor's/actresses' defense.
They cannot make pirates without will he is the new lord od(type thing) of the whole ocean pirates cannot sail without him knowing and they can't just take him out, Kirea yes they can work around that mostly since they cannot ve around together much cause of the whole land water thing. and if you say that they had a child she would be busy.But they cannot make pirates without Jack, Will, Barbosa, Pintel, and Ragitti. It just not write ....
i saw we bombard the writers directores and orlando(even thought he is really nice and cute) with letters saying that he must come back.... it will not be the same.
