Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at 12:07AM Trailer - Will Smith in 'Seven Pounds'
We can only hope that the new
Will Smith
collaboration with director
Gabriele Muccino is half as good as their
previous film,
The Pursuit of Happyness. I've seen it probably
five or six times over the past two years, and it gets better every time I watch
it.
That has more to do with Smith than anything else; it's
easily his best performance but it's so natural for him that it doesn't look
like he's working hard at all. If you want evidence of an actor working too
hard, check out Tom Cruise in The Last Samurai or Julianne Moore in
Freedomland.
The new Smith-Muccino film is
Seven Pounds, which co-stars
Rosario
Dawson, and like Happyness, it seems well-oiled for awards
season. Smith plays an IRS agent who tries to make up for the mistakes of his
past by helping seven strangers in their times of need.
