I guess the good news is that
Paul
Greengrass and
Matt Damon will return, but I can't help but be
a little hesitant about a fourth
Jason Bourne movie.
It's going ahead, according to
Variety, with
George Nolfi
writing the script. He co-wrote
Bourne Ultimatum, which is another good sign,
but if I had my druthers, which I very often don't, they'd stop at three movies.

I have maintained for a year that Bourne is the best trilogy ever. The first movie is great, the second one is better, and the third film is the best of the bunch. The trilogy got better as it went on and it never had a lot of wasted screen time. The Godfather had a terrible third movie, Return of the Jedi isn't very good, and there were big chunks in the second and third Lord of the Rings movies we didn't need, as good as they were. The new film will not be based on a Robert Ludlum novel, although I'm not sure that matters now, in terms of telling Bourne's story. What does matter is where we go from here. There was a great singularity about the trilogy, which we've solved. So now that he remembers everything, I really don't know if the story has as much oomph. All of this news has been more or less unofficial for some time, so named Nolfi just kind of clears one of the clouds. We still don't know exactly when and where it will shoot - we had heard early next year in South America or something along those lines - so we'll try to pursue those details for you in the coming weeks.
