Sure, Traci Lords has a supporting role in Kevin Smith's
Zack and Miri Make a Porno, but she's had 20 years to rehabilitate her
career from her sordid days as the star of such titles as Tailhouse Rock
and Beverly Hills Copulator. It's an entirely different thing for
Sasha Grey.
AVN (via IGN) says the Oscar-winning director has plucked Grey out of the seedy underbelly of adult entertainment to play the lead in his new low-budget movie about a call girl. "To have the opportunity to work for an Academy Award-winning auteur is truly a great honor," said Grey. "I've been an admirer of Soderbergh's films for years, and I am elated that I have been given a leading role in a character-driven film."
Over the past two years, Grey has appeared in over 125 adult films - wow - and will soon be featured in the very funny online series, James Gunn's PG Porn. Another interesting note about Grey: Apparently, she's a film snob, so much so that she once considered using the name of Jean-Luc Godard's ex-wife, Anna Karina, for her stage name.
