Flat Featurette for 'The Spirit'

Does anybody else have the feeling that they hired the wrong director for The Spirit? I mean, Frank Miller knows comic books, and we all know that. He's a driving force in where that form of literature is headed.

But as a film director and screenwriter, he's pretty much untested. There are a couple distinguishing features about what we've seen from the film so far: 1) He chose the color palette used for his previous film, Sin City, and 2) The women are hot.

Beyond that, however, we've seen some unspectacular trailers and some posters that also remind us Sin City. Now we have a behind-the-scenes featurette, which premiered over at Yahoo!, and now we get to see Samuel L. Jackson ordering a full-course meal of scenery, seasoning it, and chewing it up completely. That may or may not be a good thing.

You can catch The Spirit on Christmas, although I'm getting the sneaking suspicion that a lot fewer people will see this based on the evidence than were clamoring for the film earlier in the year.
