News Flash: 'Flash' Teaser Probably a Fake

The odds are overwhelmingly negative that this is a legitimate teaser trailer for The Flash. He's one of DC Comics' more enduring heroes, although the first movie made with the character back in the 1990s was simply just too stupid to take seriously. He'll be back, one day, presumably in 2010, so is that too far out for a real trailer? No, not really. I mean, Tron 2 won't be out for three years and we've seen a trailer for that.

But here's the set-up: Worst Previews received an e-mail with the trailer recorded on a camera phone. It supposedly ran before a test screening of Watchmen. On the surface, I can think of three problems: Test screenings have incredibly tight security for exactly this reason. The studios obviously don't want footage leaked online for a movie like Watchmen. And that's an ancillary part of the first point - where's the Watchmen footage? If this guy caught The Flash, why didn't he just record some of the movie?

Secondly, why would he record the full trailer in the first place? What tip did he get that they'd be showing a bad-ass trailer before Watchmen?

Thirdly, why on Earth would Warner Bros. premiere a trailer for something like The Flash at a test screening in front of maybe 400 people? None of that makes any sense.

Watch it once and you might believe it's the real deal. Watch it twice and you begin to see some of the flaws. It's still a really good fan-made trailer...unless it's real, in which case, it's not a very well-made professional trailer.

So what do you think? The real deal or phony?

not a chance.

Yeah, the kicker for me is the news anchor voice, which almost sounds like it's recorded on the camera microphone. I could see how you'd buy it if you're a want-to-believer, but it looks about as real as Madonna's new cheeks implants.

I want this movie made so bad I hope it's real.

I also think that if that trailer was real..that's going to be the most corny looking movie of the year. That just screemed Captain America looks. You know...that really bad one.....from 1990.

yeah...i'm with Colin if that's professional - damn...then again, if it is real it most likely was just "HEY LOOK FLASH" no actual footage (crossing fingers).

If it's fan made..that probably ranks up ther with the Batman Superman fan movie, very good.

I'm sorry that I'm so late to chime in on this...

FAKE!

The voice over is really bad.

The studio footage, frame for frame, is lifted from the very real, vey viral Dark Knight "bootlegs".

And...

That's all I'm going to say, because I want to talk about Tron 2.

I was watching the World Series with my brother yesterday and we both noticed that Jeff Bridges does the voice over for almost all of the sponsors. One sponsor in particular, Duracell, made me wonder something amazing...

"What if Bridges is, for a crazy twist of fate, trapped inside of a battery this time?"

No?

Fine. Go Rays!

Or trapped inside the all-new Hyundai Genesis.

Does anyone out there know if "Luda" Chris Bridges and Jeff Bridges are related?

I think I could do quite nicely inside of the Genesis. Hyundai, are you listening? Give Colin Boyd a Genesis!

Oddly, Luda and Beau Bridges are both in Max Payne, and I confess I would rather see them try to pull off The Fabulous Baker Boys. With Alicia Bridges (disco reference).

I was always quite fond of Nash Bridges.

With the very special super secret cameo from...

Todd Bridges.

Oh and the trailer's a fake. I'd bet three gallons of gas on it.

Rumor mill:

Lloyd Bridges plays some kind of roll. It must be an actor thing.....
