New International Trailer for 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince'

I'm still not entirely sure why
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince moved to
next summer. It was originally supposed to open on November 21st, and when it
moved to July, there was a domino effect that impacted the rest of the year,
with movies moving up, moving back, or if you're funded by the Weinsteins,
moving off the 2008 calendar completely.
The only thing that truly makes sense as that it was a
money move, and Warner Bros. looked ahead to July 19th, which is when the
studio's The Dark Knight opened this year, and they noticed there was no
big moneymaker in place on that weekend. We'll see how the strategy plays out.

Hot damn. That's really good.

Yes it's really good and really annoying to know we'll have to wait into the middle of next year to see it. The anticipation for this film was high enough to lock in a very nice payday for November. I doubt the ticket sales for next July will be any better than they would've been next month. This of course is arguable on the basis that warmer months mean more people out and seeing films. However, it also means more people doing everything else too from enjoying vacations to the weather in general.
It's certainly a gambit they're taking and perhaps one they feel safe in taking because they know there's a base of moviegoers who will go see this film no matter what. If they can add on top of it by releasing during summer all the better for their bottom line. Assuming that is the analogy of more people being out and about translates to additional tickets sold which I doubt. Only time will tell if this next installment fairs better for having been pushed back or if its numbers simply meet up to expectations.
The studios may have pushed the date to July as a money move--but I wonder if they also made this decision because Daniel Radcliffe is currently performing "Eqqus" on Broadway--at least until Christmas. He would not have had the time to help promote the movie with the other castmates.
