New Trailer for 'Benjamin Button'

There's another new trailer for
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, so we
thought we'd share. The film, an adaptation of an ingenious F. Scott Fitzgerald
short story of a man who ages backwards, has "that look" of an Oscar-friendly
film.
It's a period piece, it's obviously an epic journey covering the majority
of a man's life, it stars
Brad Pitt (who still doesn't have a Best Actor
nomination), and among his co-stars are
Cate Blanchett
(roughly 37 nominations in ten years) and
Tilda Swinton,
the Supporting Actress winner a year ago.

Frankly, the least Oscar-y thing about Benjamin Button is its director, David Fincher. Between Se7en, Zodiac, and Fight Club, it's amazing to me that he hasn't ever received a major nomination, not for an Academy Award, a BAFTA, or even a Golden Globe.
With a weak crop of movies on the slate to this point and with only two months left for the contenders, the pedigree on this one might be enough to secure a few default nominations. If you're looking for a corollary, as if only the most deserving films get a lot of nominations, I submit to you Cold Mountain and A Beautiful Mind, both of which rode reputations more than anything that showed up on screen. I'm holding out hope for this one, though.
