The Fat Lady Doesn't Sing: Travolta Won't Make 'Hairspray' Sequel

They've decided to make a sequel to Hairspray, but you can bet John Travolta won't be involved.

The idea to continue the story has gained traction ever since the movie was released to good reviews and better business last summer, with an announcement about the sequel following a few months ago. Travolta recently told Australia's Sunday Herald Sun (via Moviehole) that we won't see him as Edna Turnblad again.

"I think once is enough. I did it and I did it well but I'm not a big sequel guy," remarked the star of the sequels Be Cool and Staying Alive.

No offense to Tron Javolta or anything, but I'd rather see a sequel without him and Christopher Walken, anyway. In my eyes, they were a real letdown, but I understand trying to make a big splash casting some of the roles in a musical, and Travolta in a dress was quite a splash. Keep your jokes to yourself (or don't).

The sequel is supposed to be about the Turnblads again, so something would have to change, either eliminating Edna completely or re-casting the role with Rosie O'Donnell.

Oh yeah, and according to Disney, Travolta's going to make Wild Hogs 2. So...

I submit for your consideration the "Looks Who's Talking" series.
