Later this year, we'll see a different side of
Amy Adams
in
Doubt, which is her first heavy, heavy dramatic
film role. It should gain plenty of attention because Meryl Streep is in it,
she's a perpetual Oscar nominee, and the competition for Best Actress isn't
terribly strong. Some pundits believe Adams could even wind up with a Supporting Actress nod, which
may be determined by the performance or at least in part by the Academy's
frustrating penchant for nominating and awarding actors the year after they
should be.But Doubt is not the last time we'll see the versatile Adams take on a tough dramatic role in the near future. Variety writes that she has signed to star as NPR correspondent Jacki Lyden in the adaptation of her biography, Daughter of the Queen of Sheba. Lyden was the first NPR correspondent reporting after the attacks on 9/11 and later went to Afghanistan to broadcast after the fall of the Taliban.
Following Doubt, Adams will be seen in Julie and Julia, also co-starring Streep, and Night at the Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian.
