Trailer - 'Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa'

I remember about four years ago or whenever it was, I watched about 10 minutes of Madagascar months before it was released. DreamWorks came to town, brought a clip, and it was nice. I mean, it didn't reinvent the wheel, but the clip showed promise.

The movie was about on par with the clip, although it got on my nerves before it should have. Of course, Madagascar is not a movie made for me, and I know that. It looked good, and it moved along briskly. It had a few new traits mixed in with the dozens of same characteristics nearly every animated movie shares. (Here's a hint: There are plenty of fish-out-of-water stories in the animated universe.)

Do I need a Madagascar 2? No. Does your kid? Probably not. If they loved the first one at age six, they're nearly ten by now. They're probably downloading porn while you're not looking. Hey, don't blame me, blame yourselves...

Anyway, the point is that we'll get a sequel, and sooner than we may have realized. I don't think I'll mind Madagascar 2: Again with the Being Lost Business, and it could actually be entertaining if they focus it the right way. It's just hard to get excited for it. If we were talking Incredibles 2, well...that's a whole other story.

Here's the new full-length trailer for Madagascar.
