Downey, Ritchie Talk 'Sherlock Holmes' at Press Conference

A project that has come together very quickly, Sherlock Holmes begins shooting this month in London, the first big screen version of Holmes in decades. Guy Ritchie is bringing a totally different vibe to the Holmes of old, casting Robert Downey Jr. as the master detective, Jude Law as Watson, and Rachel McAdams as Irene Adler, who is Holmes' dream girl of sorts.

The movie is based on a new comic book interpretation of Holmes by Lionel Wigram, so it won't be one of the cases we're familiar with, at least, not exclusively. Expect more action and less ruminating, I guess.

Recently, many of the principals sat down for a press conference, which was covered by some entertainment show in the UK (I can't quite read the entire logo, so if you know which program it is, I'd like to give it the proper credit).

There's no Jude Law, and Rachel McAdams doesn't say anything, but you do get to hear from Downey and Ritchie, who tell you the way the envision things and how they came to the project.

There's no release date for Sherlock Holmes set it stone just yet, but I would imagine a fall 2009 opening wouldn't be out of the question.
