Dark New Images from 'Max Payne'
Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at 10:01AM
We're a little more than a week away from
Max Payne, the new video game adaptation
starring Mark
Wahlberg. A fan of the game, I was excited to hear they were going to
give it the big screen treatment, and then I've been hot and cold about it ever
since.
I don't love the choice of Wahlberg (Clive Owen would
make a better Max Payne, I think), but most of the cast is solid and I like more
of the trailers and posters than I don't. Another note on Wahlberg: It's not
that I hate him or anything, I just believe he's being miscast this year, except for when he talks to animals on Saturday Night Live. I'm
still curious about
Mila Kunis, by the way. She's either going to
be a great surprise or absolutely awful.
IGN has a few more images from Max Payne that
have me leaning in the affirmative. From the looks of them, they're keeping the
weird supernatural component alive, which is good. I was curious about what
they'd leave in and what they'd leave out, so I'm glad director
John Moore
is at least trying this angle.

Max Payne hits theaters on October 17th.

i suspect the storyline for Max Payne is a lot more exciting when it's happening in the form of a video game... except for those few exciting parts that i already saw in the preview, it was a snoozefest
