Attack of Even More Spoof Movies!
Monday, November 10, 2008 at 6:36PM
You'd think with a downward trend more pronounced than the stock market or the
use of the phrase "Whazzzuuup!" that studios would aver from spoof movies for a
while. The market was inundated with them to the point that,
as we
reported this weekend, there's going to be a spoof movie called
Not Another Not Another Movie.
But wait -
there's more!

MTV has revealed that the Wayans Brothers will make Dance Flick, a send-up of, well, you know. And there's even a new poster, which I'd share with you if I thought you really needed or even wanted to see it.
But wait - there's even more!
Once upon a time, there was a movie script called Armageddagain: The Day Before Tomorrow, which is essentially Disaster Movie with some semblance of a plot, I guess. Or at least, I hope. That movie has since been re-titled 2012-ish: The Year The Earth Bent Over, which doesn't suck any less and may even suck more. And that movie, according to Screen Daily, may wind up in the hands of MGM.
The film's producer, Hadeel Reda, calls the $25 million film "a comedic satire in the vein of Airplane and Young Frankenstein." Well, sure, aren't they all? Doesn't mean they're as good as those two films, just that they're "like" them. 2012-ish will shoot next spring in Louisiana, and I'd just like to mention that budget is three times as much as Little Miss Sunshine and Juno. But that's OK, because this is a surefire hit, right Odd Lot International's Brian O'Shea? "2012-Ish: The Day The Earth Bent Over is a hilarious, broad comedy with a story that will appeal to audiences of all ages worldwide." Well, thank your lucky stars. So many movies don't ever bother to ask the question, "What's our audience?" Fortunately, we now know that 2012-ish will appeal to you, no matter how old you are or where you live.

i HATE spoofs.
Here's what we do: Send Obama over there, have him smack the movie execs and demand that for every dollar they spend making a crappy movie like this, they have to donate a dollar to help actual disaster victims. They can still make their movie, it will just cost a little more and some people will get a helping hand that really need it. Win, win, I say.
