A Look Inside 'Frost/Nixon'
Thursday, November 13, 2008 at 3:05PM
One of the relatively quiet Oscar hopefuls is
Ron Howard's
Frost/Nixon. Perhaps because it doesn't have
huge stars and it's not an epic, people have looked past in favor of glitzier
films. But I've seen Frost/Nixon, and I can assure you it belongs in the
discussion.
Based on
Peter Morgan's stage play, Frost/Nixon
is an account of the landmark interviews granted by former President Richard
Nixon to British talk show host David Frost. Watch the real interviews on You
Tube sometime; they're fascinating.

Michael Sheen (The Queen, Underworld) and Frank Langella reprise their roles from the stage as Frost and Nixon, and Peter Morgan, of course, wrote the scripts for The Queen and The Last King of Scotland. So clearly, he likes putting power under a microscope.
There's a new featurette for Frost/Nixon, in which you'll see a little of what I'm sure will be an Academy Award-nominated performance by Langella, and Ron Howard talks about the importance of the historical event and how it makes such a compelling film.

Frost/Nixon will be in theaters on December 5th.
