A Visit to the Set of 'Prince of Persia'

We don't get to see very much of it in this new video of Entertainment Tonight's visit to the set of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, but what little footage there is of Jake Gyllenhaal sword fighting is not too bad, really. Originally planned as a 2009 summer movie, Jerry Bruckheimer and company moved it to May 2010, which gives them ample time to promote the film, probably beginning with trailers next summer or a Comic Con debut.

I wasn't sure about Gyllenhaal in this role, but he looks pretty comfortable in this character's skin and surprisingly effective in the action scenes. The video game on which this movie is based certainly lends itself to the big screen format, so we'll see how much of that they rely on for the film.

Bruckheimer, as a good producer should do, commends the cinematography by saying he hasn't seen photography like this since Lawrence of Arabia. Well, as long as we're making comparisons, why not throw out the greatest desert epic ever made?

Thanks to Trailer Addict for the video

You saw a glimpse of Quantum of Solace's Gemma Arterton, rapier in hand, and I suspect this will be her real coming out party. Prince of Persia opens on Memorial Day 2010 and if we know anything about a summer Bruckheimer movie, it ought to be a really good popcorn flick. But can it be more than that?
