Get Ready to Meet More 'Fockers'
Friday, November 14, 2008 at 4:49AM
Try this on for size:
Meet the Fockers is the highest-grossing
live-action comedy sequel ever made. It's in the top 20 if you open it up to
every sequel (and remember that Star Wars, Spider-Man, Shrek,
Pirates, and Lord of the Rings are at least ten of those 20), and
it's the fifth-highest-grossing comedy ever, behind two Shreks,
Finding Nemo, and Home Alone.
So...how could they not make another one? The formula
should be easy enough, although Fockers is a serious downgrade from
Meet the
Parents, and if everyone gets a good cut of the potential
profits, they'd be fools not to do it again.

Fox reports that the threequel is "percolating," and that all the principals will return, if not the principles. About a year ago, the idea was Meet the Little Fockers, focusing on Gaylord Focker's kids, and I'm sure that's the way they'll go, and I'm sure the kid will have an even more bizarre name. I'll let you come up with those on your own. I'm thinking twins, by the way. Don't know why.
So Ben Stiller, Teri Polo, Robert De Niro, Blythe Danner, Dustin Hoffman, and Le Babs would all be back on board, and presumably director Jay Roach would, too, although Fox didn't comment on that.
But it wasn't just me, right? The sequel was pretty blah on the whole. And because of that, I can't say I'm looking forward to this no matter how big a hit it will probably be.

i totally agree. the sequel was so lame-o. i'll never watch it again, not to mention steering clear of the next one.
Yikes! Let me guess, Meet the Grand parents? It's official, I want Ben Stiller to fock off. His smug humor has exceeded it's experation date.
I guess I'm the odd human out. Aside from "Something about Mary" I find Ben Stiller's films more annoying than anything else. I didn't walk out of "Meet the Parents" only because m'lady wanted to see it and she seemed to be enjoying it.
I was a knot of frustation by the end of that thing and have avoided Stiller films ever since.
But then I hated 'Home Alone' too and thats (over) rated high too so, yeah, it must just be me.
Both of these films were dog ass. Hoffman was the only saving grace in the sequel. Everyone is trashing Stiller, but what about every DeNiro buddy hunk of shit in the last 20 years? These Focker movies make Showtime look brilliant.
i guess i was the only one that loved both of these two movies and im looking forward to the little fockers. i got a name for a kid Dickie Focker
