Sequel to 'Halloween' Remake Loses Directors

The first official word I'd heard about a sequel to Rob Zombie's Halloween was an indication that Dimension Films, which distributed the Zombie remake, would have a direct-to-DVD sequel not to that film but to another Halloween movie that would be released theatrically.

About a week later, we found out that French directors Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo were going to make the sequel, and that they'd been putting together a script for a few months. OK then, I thought, everything's set.

Well now, Bloody Disgusting reports that Maury and Bustillo have walked away from Halloween. The duo made the horror movie Inside, which put them on the fast track to bigger projects, but this year alone they've worked on both the Hellraiser and the Halloween franchises and they won't be attached to either one of them when the movies finally come out.

While we don't know what caused the departure, Bloody Disgusting says that the Weinsteins have asked Zombie to come back in the fold as a producer, although I don't think he has any interest in going back behind the camera for the sequel.
