Aaron Eckhart is probably crossing his fingers
that his next sci-fi movie works out better than The Core. I mean, you
can watch that thing and tell the actors know it's a bad movie.
Anyway, Eckhart, who has earned his stripes as an indie
leading man with great roles in In the Company of Men and Thank You
for Smoking and has tested the waters of blockbusters with his turn as
Harvey Dent in The Dark Knight, will star in a sci-fi action flick called
Battle: Los Angeles, directed by
Jonathan
Liebesman.

The Hollywood Reporter indicates that it's being fashioned as a star vehicle for the versatile Eckhart, in which he will lead a Marine platoon leader who battles an alien invasion in Los Angeles. The big twist here is that, for once, it's not New York under attack.
As a director Liebesman is best known for Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning. That doesn't exactly inflate my expectations for this movie, but what are you gonna do?
