A Fifth of 'Tremors'?

Somewhere in the dark recesses of my mind, I think I knew about the third and fourth Tremors movies. I saw the first two, and that was enough for me. The 1990 original is great fun, and at the time, really unexpected fun; nobody was making movies like that back then.

Cinema Blend cites "friends on the inside" that say there's another Tremors movie on the way - Tremors: The Thunder from Down Under. I thought the same thing you're thinking, but no, apparently the giant graboid monsters don't come out of the ground and eat an all-male dance revue. Instead, they're taking the Jaws IV approach and moving the critters to Australia.

According to the report, Universal is ready to dive back into the franchise, although it's unclear whether or not they'll release this in theaters. My hunch would be that they'd follow a route similar to what Sony used this summer with Starship Troopers 3: Marauder. Sony treated it a lot like a theatrical release, premiering clips and trailers and running plenty of TV ads, essentially promoting the hell out of a DVD-only release to see how effective it is.

Now, of course, this is just speculation at this point. But you know what they say: If at first you succeed, and then success is a lot harder to come by, you could quit while you're ahead or try and try again, failing worse each time.

I would imagine we wouldn't get Kevin Bacon back for this, nor Reba, who made her acting debut in the original. On the plus side, it would give Michael Gross something to do; he's been in every one of the movies plus the TV show.

No they got this series all wrong on the third one and the series. I didn't even bother with the fourth. I'm sure it is hard to mix the right amount of cheesy with these horror movies but why bother if you cant do it right. I also hate that pic. I guess I missed when graboids grew teeth because they sure didn't have them in the first or second (I know it is the cover for the box set which I may own, I still hate it)
P.S. Starship Troopers 3 was a complete waste of time

I visited the Beverly and Jim Rogers Museum of Lone Pine Film History last Summer, and they have many fine artifacts from the Tremors set. I guess it was filmed there...

By the way, any Tremors news is great news for the economy of Lone Pine!

(Parts of Iron Man were filmed in the nearby Alabama Hills as well, so they have an Iron Man Exhibit too, but Marvel just announced that the part of Alabama Hills will be played by Don Cheadle in Iron Man 2: Still Salt Enough for Pepper).
