Kiefer Sutherland Hoping to Make '24' Movie

Here's what
Kiefer Sutherland thinks about doing a movie
version of
24: "I've been ready for years."
Speaking at an event commemorating the kick-off of the new season of the show
November 24th,
Sutherland said he's given a film spin-off
plenty of thought, but it involves more people than just the star of the show.
"I think from the writers' perspective it's so hard to get through a season and
the second we end they start on the next one, but I certainly hope we will one
day because I would love to tackle the idea of a 24 hour day represented in a
two hour film."

This talk is nothing new, of course, not for 24 and not for a lot of serial dramas on TV these days. But this one has a real legitimate shot, especially because Sutherland doesn't seem to want to walk away from the show but rather explore where it can go next."There's always talk," admitted 24 director and executive producer and director Jon Cassar, "but we probably have to wait until the television show is over and then deal with a feature film."
In general, I haven't been a fan of the movie follow-ups for TV shows. After all, in most cases, these shows had eight to ten years to tell their damn stories. I do think there are exceptions, Arrested Development possibly being one because it was short-lived. But because the structure of 24 is so protracted, does it make sense to just make a two-hour episode and try to cram a huge story arc into that time?

If the producers of 24 want to do a 24 hour film, I'll pay 16 bucks to see it. Think of the popcorn it would sell!
If the producers of 24 want to make 24 3-D, I'll pay the extra two bucks for the dang glasses.
If they are going to do a movie based on 24, they have to do one of two things:
1. Call it "2" (or "1:40", depending on run time)
Or...
2. Call it "Jack Bauer and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull"
Know what I mean, Verne?
