I don't know if this is a great comfort to hardcore fans
or not, but at least
Dragonball looks like it'll be colorful.

Mai (Eriko Tamura) has a gun, and yet she still goes with the throwing star. Dragonball will be in theaters on April 8, 2009.
In a recent discussion about Twilight, a Big Picture reader commented that there's nothing about the clips or trailers or special features we've seen that will make a non-fan a convert. I can see the argument, though I think the hype for that film is so huge right now - and peaking at just the right time - that it could sway fence riders just with that.
But I think her point applies just as well to Dragonball, if not more so. The upcoming movie adaptation of the popular anime series doesn't have the united front that Twilight does; there's plenty of bitching and moaning from core Dragon Ball Z fans that the movie is doing a lot of things wrong. On top of that, we haven't seen a lot of supporting materials that make it seem like a can't-miss proposition, or even a don't-miss event like Twilight.
We saw a few new photos over at Comic Book Movie, and...well, at least it looks like it'll be colorful.

Obviously you never heard of the great Kamehameha wave.
I hope there is a lot of style here because were lacking in substance.
I have the Kamehameha Wave whenever I go to Jamba Juice, actually. I love the way the papaya and pineapple dance softly on the mango sorbet. Try it today!
If thats what Piccolo looks like in the movie you will continue to hear more "bitching and moaning" from the true die hard fans of the dragonball series.
this is crap!!
Cartoons were very good but movie..... i truly hope for the best but if it were a japanese ideea and a US director would be better.
looks like it's gonna suck.
