New Poster for Neil Gaiman's 'Coraline'
Saturday, November 1, 2008 at 11:56PM
We're only a few months away from the animated fantasy,
Coraline, based on the book by
Neil Gaiman.
Gaiman, as you probably know, is starting to get more and more film work. He
wrote the novel on which Stardust is based, and that film should've had
more public support. He also worked on Beowulf and apparently might have
something to do with Marvel's Dr. Strange one day if IMDB is to be
believed, but we're looking so far in the future that it's too early to know for
sure.
Coraline will open February 6th, 2009.
Coraline is Gaiman's Hugo Award-winning 2002 best seller about a girl who finds a mysterious door in her family's new house and when she goes through it, she finds Narnia. OK, not exactly. She finds a fantastical parallel universe, yes, but it mirrors her own life in a lot of ways, so much so that on the other side of the door, her parents are called Other Mother and Other Father.
Dakota Fanning voices Coraline, and we'll also hear the familiar strains of Teri Hatcher, John Hodgman, and Ian McShane.Gaiman's blog has just released the brand new poster for Coraline, saying that they were shipped out to theaters this past week. So look for this in your multiplex soon, if not sooner.

Gaiman's's touch is Golden. I found Mirrormask to be quite under-rated, but it might have been too big an undertaking for our friends over at Jim Henson Productions...
Oh, and it never hurts when you have Henry Selick as your director.
