Sunday, November 2, 2008 at 4:29AM 'Transformers' Sequel Wraps Production
Considering that the location shooting took
Michael Bay
and his crew from California to Pennsylvania, down the seaboard a bit to around
Washington D.C., over to New Mexico, and jetting over to Jordan, and that it had
to shoot around the injury to its star
Shia LaBeouf for a little while, it's really
quite an accomplishment that
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen finished
principal photography in five months. That announcement was made this weekend on
Bay's blog.
The first
Transformers was in production for a year or
so, which makes cranking out a sequel that will be larger in scale in half the
time worth noting. Oh, and let's not forget, they also shot some scenes with the
giant IMAX cameras like The Dark Knight did. So getting this completely
filmed in five months is impressive. I just hope Michael Bay didn't sacrifice
any of the particulars of the story to speed up the process...

So now what happens? Well, the movie comes out June 29th, and long before that, we'll get a trailer. You would think Paramount might want to stick it on the front of one of their films, so most likely Friday the 13th. It's a February release, which gives them time to put something together, and it's also produced by Bay's Platinum Dunes, so there's some added symmetry. However, my hunch would be that we'd see this trailer during the Super Bowl, which is a couple weeks earlier than Friday the 13th.
I'm just speculating. It'll be a big splash, the sort of thing they announce ahead of time. In the meantime, we wait. And think of Megan Fox. A lot.
