Jean-Claude Van Damme: Ladies Man

Jean-Claude Van Damme is enjoying a renaissance of sorts. Actually, you could say he's never known the kind of praise he's been getting lately. While his films made a considerable amount of money in the early 1990s, they were all more or less crimes against humanity.

His latest film, JCVD, shows Van Damme playing a fictionalized version of himself, and at age 48, he's finally getting good reviews. So thinking he's on top of the mountain, Van Damme wanted to share the love. Literally. With a reporter. Who's only 22. And who writes for a little outlet called Newsweek.

The reporter, Sarah Ball, was openly and aggressively hit on by the aging Muscles from Brussels during their interview, and being a trouper, she kept it in the story. After all, how could you write an article about Van Damme and not find time to reference his smooveness.

JCVD: I really opened myself up in "JCVD." I peeled back the skin of the fruit, cut the pulp and then took that very hard seed. In this film I cut that hard seed, and inside that seed was a kind of liquid cream substance of the man I am, or the woman you are.

SB: OK —

JCVD: It was like being naked—I would love to be naked in front of you.

SB: Well, I —

JCVD: Not being naked being naked. I say such things in Hong Kong and they thought I was being a crazy Frenchman. Being naked of protection.

SB: So you ' ve no regrets at all?

JCVD: Believe me—I've done very good stuff and very crazy stuff, and I don't regret the crazy stuff. So are you in New York?

SB: Yes, I am.

JCVD: And are you 27, or 32?

SB: I ' m 22.

JCVD: Oh, f–––. That is very young. Will you come to the premiere?

SB: I don ' t know. When is it?

JCVD: I don't know. You will wear all black, a black dress and high heels?

SB: Uh —

JCVD: You can come find me, I will be the one with the very broad shoulders, dark hair and a simple suit. We can have some champagne, you and me.

Yep, he's enjoying a renaissance, all right.

When she gets older she'll learn to practice mercy and forgiveness.

To make fun of Jean-Claude va Damme is like making fun of the retarded.

It's easy but its neither clever nor big.

How's she making fun of him? I must've missed where she egged him on during the interview to make him seem like a bigger disaster.

You don't have to report everything just because it happened.

That stuff should clearly be out of the public domain and if she can't handle it she shouldn't be a journalist or even meet with people.

The more savvy reporter would have made a joke about and continued with the interview.

I'm glad she kept it in the interview.
After all, she was conducting an interview when he propositioned her - what an idiot, JCVD has not changed.

What the f--- is this all about? Why do we have to believe that sh*t happened? Did you hear the interview yourselves, people? Plus, if he said that... don't you think he was just kiddin' her? Jean-Claude Van Damme (48 yrs old), still have a list of more than 50,000 ladies waiting for him just to say "hi!". So, stop bullsh*tting!

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that Newsweek probably wouldn't run that story if she completely made it up. Call me crazy. Or are libel and defamation of character lawsuits really what national publications are going for these days, particularly with revenues in the toilet?

And Lengthy, Jean-Claude made that the story. She never commented on it, and he just kept going. It's a lot more interesting than anything he really had to say (read the beginning of the interview for that proof). A good reporter doesn't have to report everything that happens, just the best story. That's what she's there for, after all.

You know who shouldn't meet with people? Jean-Claude Van Damme. If he's at this stage of his career and he can't avoid veering into leering, then that's his problem. If he doesn't know it's not off the record, then more power to her. I'll never defend an idiot for being an idiot.

Well, famous people are acting stupid all the time but most of the time we don't read about it.

I get propositioned all the time and the only decent way to deal with it is to make a joke about it and let it pass so nobody gets upset of disturbed.

I renew my prediction that this gal ain't gonna last in the business unless she gets a bit savvy.
