Trailer - The Anime Update 'Astro Boy'

This will only take a minute, I promise. It's the new teaser trailer for Astro Boy, based on the Japanese Manga classic from the 1950s. You've missed the boat if you haven't heard of Astro Boy (or Astroboy), since the character has been merchandised to death in the past half century and has had a few TV shows to his credit, as well. It's commonly credited with being a kind of grandfather of anime, and its creator, Osamu Tezuka, is known as the "God of Manga."

Summit Entertainment, which has had a pretty good 24 hours, will distribute a new 3-D movie version of Astro Boy in 2009, featuring the voices of Nic Cage, Freddie Highmore, and Kristen Bell. Here's a quick teaser trailer that, if you've ever been a fan of the character, will show you a little about how much and how little has changed over the years.

Look for Astro Boy on October 23rd next year.
