'Whiteout' Trades Another Big Delay for a New Poster

Push it back, push it back, waaaaay back! That's the most constant refrain for Whiteout, a comic book adaptation about a murder in Antarctica that a U.S. Marshal (Kate Beckinsale) must solve before the continent vanishes into months of darkness.

The Dominic Sena-directed film was supposed to be theaters in September, and then it got moved to April. When that move was announced, we said, "Snowbound movies in late April aren't a very good fit, but since I have a feeling this one's going to take the ol' studio dive anyway, it may not even get a chance to prove itself." Now the movie has been transplanted again, this time back to September 11, 2009, which is kind of a no man's land, especially for projects that won't see a major release. Still, it's probably better than keeping it in April.

Curiously, they keep coming up with fantastic posters for this movie, which is strange since Warner Bros. doesn't appear to have any faith in it whatsoever. Here's the latest look, which reminds me a bit of Fargo. Perhaps it's all that snow.
