The 'Bourne' Continuation
Sunday, November 23, 2008 at 1:23AM
We should have all known this was coming when they
announced a fourth Jason Bourne movie, but Universal has officially locked up
three more Bourne flicks, according to
the fifth
letter of the alphabet.
Perhaps you're mumbling something about
Robert Ludlum
only writing three novels, which became
The Bourne
Identity,
Supremacy, and
Ultimatum. You're right about that, however,
the Ludlum estate has commissioned Eric Van Lustbader to keep the rogue spy
alive. It's not known whether or not the studio plans to use the Van Lustbader
novles, The Bourne Legacy, The Bourne Betrayal and The Bourne
Sanction.

If the studio wants to come up with original ideas, the really hard part will be picking the right third word to make each title cooler than the last. You could with, like, The Bourne Rubicon, The Bourne Salami, and finally, The Bourne Quantum.
Matt Damon is attached to star in the fourth movie, and Paul Greengrass will direct again, but we don't know what their status is for the fifth and six films. You'd like to think that if these movies are worth doing, and I'm not entirely certain they are given how great the trilogy is, then they're worth doing right, which would mean Damon and Greengrass. Expect the fourth Bourne movie in late summer 2010.
