Wolverine Discusses Upcoming 'X-Men: First Class'
Saturday, November 22, 2008 at 5:07PM
Based on a fairly new comic book spinoff,
Fox announced
this week that they will pursue a film version of X-Men: First
Class, which will cover some of the students at the Xavier Academy. It might
be a little overkill for the movie series, which still has to get through two
Origins movies featuring Wolverine and Magneto before addressing this Baby
X-Men business.
Hugh Jackman, talking up
Australia,
recently commented on the new direction Fox is taking with First Class,
telling IGN
he won't be involved, but that he gets the decision to keep expanding the
franchise.

"I heard about some kind of movie and to me, being a little greedy, I just said to the guys at Fox: 'I really want Wolverine to be... whatever else you do, I get it, but please make Wolverine the first one.' So I'm happy that we're the first ones out. But I think there is always room for good movies. And I can see with the comic book, with the history, with the folklore that is around X-Men, there is definitely a good movie there. I won't be making it, but I look forward to seeing what they do with it."
X-Men Origins: Wolverine opens in May, and while Jackman says he won't be in First Class, a tiny cameo would probably not be out of order.
