A Day in the Life of 'Variety'

Thanks to Anne Thompson at Variety for sharing this hilarious, astute video from Funny or Die. Maybe you don't read a lot of Variety, but the legendary trade has a very particular writing style, calling an actor "thesp" for thespian, and abbreviating studio names (Paramount becomes "Par"), and so forth. It is as endearing as it is infuriating.This video is a brainstorming meeting about new Variety slanguage, that very specific shorthand that most of us would never dare try to emulate if we wanted to be taken seriously.I will warn you: The dialogue is not work-safe.
