'Making Iron Man' by Jeff Bridges
Monday, November 24, 2008 at 10:37AM
I remember when Arlington Road was released, the
studio thought it'd be a cool idea to hand out copies of a photo book about the
production of the film made by
Jeff Bridges. I still have mine around here
somewhere...

Bridges has honed his craft as a photographer over a
couple of decades, and based on the work I've seen, it's all pretty much like
this - candids, people huddled around a table in a trailer for a script meeting,
the crew. Plus, in this case, we get to go behind the scenes on one of the
year's biggest films, so that's pretty cool.

Check it out at his official site for shots of
Favreau,
Downey,
and Gwyneth,
and while you're there, look at some of his other stuff, too.
That was the first time I had seen Bridges' work, which another studio would market again with The Door in the Floor a few years later. Iron Man didn't need that kind of promotional help, but Bridges took photos on the set nonetheless. It's what he does. And on his website, JeffBridges.com, he has the whole book, Making Iron Man, available to view.

Cool stuff. I like the personal touches Bridges uses in his layout, like the handwritten fonts and folksy prose. The Dude most certainly abides!
Can't wait for the T2RON photo-jounal...
His whole website has the same approach, so if anyone wants to see more of his stuff, I'd highly recommend checking it out. It's looked that way for years, too. I interviewed him back in 2004 and it had the exact same format then.
