Celebrate the Holidays with 'The Spirit'

If the rest of the marketing for The Spirit was as focused and cool as this commercial that recently debuted over at Yahoo! Movies, I think we'd all be singing a different tune. Specifically, I think we'd be singing the familiar song in the ad.

Granted, it helps that there's a lot less dialogue here than in the trailers (and I'm convinced that if the movie's bad, it will be that, not the look of it, that will trip up director Frank Miller). The quick editing, a requirement when you're dealing with a quarter the amount of time you have for trailers, also makes this look better. The question is, does it make The Spirit look better than it is, or just better than the other marketing is?

I hope for the latter but worry it's the former.

The Spirit, as if you couldn't tell, will be out on December 25th.
