Could 'Twilight' Bring About a New 'Buffy' Movie?

We know that Twilight will be one of the bigger
hits of 2008. When you narrow that field to movies released before or after the
summer feasting season, it could be among the top three grossing movies of the
year. But one side effect most people probably didn't see coming was a new rumor
surrounding the oft-discussed
Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie.
Australia's Herald-Sun (by way of Ace Showbiz) says that Joss Whedon has a script for the film ready to go, although whether or not he wrote the supposed script is unclear. It's also unclear why, if a script exists, it wouldn't have already received the green light from a studio. The original film did well enough in cult circles, and the TV series was a smash, helping what was then known as The WB stay afloat for a few years.
My guess is that this is probably not entirely accurate. That's not to say I don't believe there will be a Buffy movie, just that nobody needs the success of Twilight to prove that a Buffy movie would work. When or if Whedon wants to do this, he could. It's his ace in the hole. The real question becomes, if he waits a few more years, is it even practical? Would you try to round up Sarah Michelle Gellar and the old cast again or would you just recreate the whole franchise over again?
