Elijah Wood Breaks Down the Animated Post-Acopalypse in '9'
Friday, November 28, 2008 at 8:27PM Elijah Wood spoke to MTV about his next project, a futuristic animated flick called 9. “It’s based on a short film Shane Acker did a number of years ago. It’s a beautiful short,” Wood explained. He tells the one-time music video channel that the movie should be out by the end of next year (IMDB lists a September 9th release), and he'll join Crispin Glover, Jennifer Connelly, John C. Reilly, Martin Landau, and Christopher Plummer in the cast of actors voicing a group of mechanized rag dolls “who kind of have the soul of humanity in them.”

The dolls have numbers instead of names, and Wood is 9. The feature film will have more characters than the short, which will also be directed by Acker. Corpse Bride writer Pamela Pettler added some new characters and expanded the post-apocalyptic world they occupy, and that shouldn't be a tremendous surprise when you learn that Tim Burton is producing the film.
“It’s a totally different kind of experience,” said Wood, who also voiced the lead character in Happy Feet. “You don’t really rely on the physical. It’s loose. And it’s fun to just create a voice and work on a character that way. It’s a different kind of creative process. It’s fun.”
Here's the short film that is being spun into a major feature. This version of 9 runs a little over ten minutes long and doesn't have any dialogue (a bit like the first 20 minutes of Wall-E, I guess, in more ways than one).

That was a great short, but do you realize that there is porno voices in the backgroud. You can hear it throughout, but especially in the begining of the short when a lady is getting railed and apparently loving it!
I heard no such thing until I watched it again trying to find ricks claims, and there is definitely something in the background, feint but there. I wont lay claim to what it is, I'm at work and wont turn the volume up high enough but undeniably there is another soundtrack embedded in this one.
Well, once you get home Orinn, you can turn up the volume and can easily distinguish the sound coming from your speakers and like I said ESPECIALLY in the first couple of seconds. She is excited about the new "9" movie, that's for sure!
