Get a Glimpse of Gambit from 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine'

We showed you a new Wolverine cover from the January 2009 issue of Empire, and within those pages is our first glimpse at Gambit, as played by Taylor Kitsch. (Thanks to IESB for the scan.)

X-Men Origins: Wolverine will mark the character's first appearance in a film, and it's something comic book fans have been looking forward to for quite a while. Here's a little bit more from Marvel on Remy LeBeau, better known as Gambit:

"Gambit has the mutant ability to tap into the potential energy contained within an object and transform it into kinetic energy upon touching it. When Gambit thus charges an object and throws it at a target, the object releases this energy explosively on impact. Gambit is unable to use this power to charge living objects."

X-Men Origins: Wolverine will kick off summer 2009, and it's looking more and more like it'll be a hell of a christening. The film stars Hugh Jackman, of course, plus Ryan Reynolds, Liev Schreiber, Kitsch, and Danny Huston.
