New Images of Mickey Rourke in 'The Wrestler'

The way the awards season is shaping up (slowly and with
very few earth-shattering movies so far), the path for
Mickey Rourke to score at
least an Oscar nomination for
The Wrestler seems pretty clear. In what may prove
to be a defining moment of his career, a comeback that could propel him for
quite a while, Rourke has so far received as much or more praise than any other
leading actor in the field this year.
The film was directed by Darren Aronofsky, in case you didn't know that already, and the story of a down-and-out pro wrestler looking for one more shot at redemption is not really the sort of narrative we're used to from the director of Requiem for a Dream.

The Wrestler will continue on its awards tour through some major U.S. cities through the end of the year, and then Fox Searchlight will go wider with it on January 16th.
