New Viggo Movie Poster for 'Good'
Sunday, November 30, 2008 at 3:56AM
For a while, it appeared that fall 2008 would completely
belong to
Viggo Mortensen. The Oscar nominee had three very different movie
roles all slated to make appearances in theaters toward the end of this year,
and now we'll only get two of them.

I'll actually be curious to see if this makes it out at
the end of the year or if, seeing how the landscape is leaning for awards and so
forth, the distributors don't move this away from the other Nazi movies and into
early 2009.
The one we'll have to wait for is The Road, a movie with a ton of eyes on it at the moment, as much for its recent postponement as for what many hope and believe will be its great qualities. The two that made the cut for this year are Ed Harris' Appaloosa, in which Viggo has a supporting role and both actors are very good (as is Jeremy Irons), and the World War II movie, Good.
As it happens, the timing might be bad for Good, with The Boy in the Striped Pajamas and Valkyrie covering some similar ground this season. The December 31st release date may not help it attract crowds, although the film is, by all accounts, a very serious effort and Mortensen continues to showcase the kind of talent that a lot of people might not have given him credit for prior to A History of Violence.
Here's a new poster for Good, which co-stars Jason Isaacs and the ubiquitous Mark Strong.
