Trailer - Thomas Jane in 'Give 'Em Hell, Malone'

hellmalone.jpgIt's official: I'm rooting for Give 'Em Hell, Malone. The movie looks so bare-bones and back-to-basics that it's hard not to hope it's better than it looks. I don't mean any offense to director Russell Mulcahy (Highlander, Resident Evil: Extinction, the great video for Billy Joel's "Pressure"), but this looks pretty low-rent.

Of course, that could be the point. Give 'Em Hell, Malone is like a dime store detective novel come to life. You've got Thomas Jane shooting a bunch of hoodlums, Ving Rhames is in it (though he doesn't show up in the trailer), the titles are extremely outdated, and you've got some naked chick in the shower. That's a great start.

Here's what's really interesting about this: According to IMDB, the production began less than two months ago, and we already have a trailer. Maybe those dates are off. I hope not, because if this took three weeks to film, I'm really pulling for it.

We'll see if the April 1st release date holds, but according to Worst Previews, Mulcahy does have distribution for this hard-boiled detective movie, so maybe we'll get a chance to see it in theaters.
