Saturday, December 13, 2008 at 12:53AM Posters: Clive Owen Doubles His Pleasure
When, exactly, was the last
Clive Owen
movie? After riding a pretty big wave of success that saw him go from the
extremely average King Arthur to an Oscar nomination in Closer in
six months, which was followed by great turns in Sin City and Inside
Man, we haven't seen as much of Owen. Children of Men got rave
reviews but was a commercial misfire, and Shoot 'Em Up bombed and
Elizabeth: The Golden Age was not as good as it should have been.

So to answer our own question, by the time The International opens in February, it will have been about a year and a half since the last Clive Owen movie, but over two years since the last really good one.
He's hoping that turns around with back-to-back flicks that look really good, as far as I'm concerned: The sociopolitical thrilla The International and the the crime comedy Duplicity. His leading ladies are Naomi Watts and Julia Roberts. Not bad.
Both films recently debuted new posters, which we found at IMP Awards.

Clive's International opens on February 13th and Duplicity hits theaters on March 20th.

Clive Owen's problem is a very limited range. Basically he keeps doing the same personality in film after film. That can be a recipe for success if the audience really likes the person being portayed again and again, as in the case of Will Smith.
Owen's mix of grumpy-cocky-awkward only works for a little while before getting tired.
