Saturday, December 13, 2008 at 9:29PM Mike Myers: 'Basterds' Defies Description
Mike Myers made one of this year's absolute
worst films. It's one of the decade's worst films, when you get right down to
it. The Love Guru was so bad that people actually listened to critics and
stayed away. The only laugh in the entire movie is in the outtakes. That's
right: They cut out the only funny thing they had.

But he's moved on, though clearly, I haven't. Myers can
be seen next year in
Quentin Tarantino's
Inglourious Basterds, and that still sounds
strange to me. Myers plays a British general and "military mastermind who takes
part in hatching a plot to wipe out Nazi leaders" during World War II, or so says an official
description. Still not sounding any less strange, is it?

Myers recently spoke to LivingTV about the film, which is still hoping for a summer 2009 release. "I was just in Germany doing the Quentin Tarantino movie, Inglourious Basterds, so I've been sort of preoccupied with that for the last few months," he said, before crashing every woman's dream that he'd share the screen with his equally sexy co-star, Brad Pitt. "I didn't work with Brad Pitt. I have a very interesting scene that defies description, but it's a very cool film. It's very exciting, so I'm very happy." I wonder if that means he only has one scene in the movie or only one interesting scene. Perhaps I'm taking him out of context. What's funny is that when his name was mentioned in connection with this film, along with a lot of other actors that would qualify as stunt casting under the circumstances, I thought it would be a cameo role. But if he said he'd been preoccupied for a few months, that makes it sound much more involved.

It's just one scene with Rod Taylor and Michael Fassbender.
That's what I thought going in, so why is he saying he's been preoccupied for months? Odd.
Thanks for the tip. And, curiously enough, I was just over at The Playlist not ten minutes ago...
