Oscar Winner, UFC Champ Join Sly's 'Expendables'

Sylvester Stallone is still busily working to assemble his cast for The Expendables, which already includes himself, Jet Li, Jason Statham, and Dolph Lundgren. And according to Ain't It Cool News, Stallone called Harry Knowles to reveal two more Expendables.The first name on the list is Forest Whitaker, who, of course, has an Oscar in his back pocket. Of course, he hasn't exactly used his powers for good since winning the Academy Award. But believe it or not, he's not the most surprising member of this ensemble; Stallone says that UFC fighter Randy Couture will enter the fray. I've been outspoken about the lack of new talent in this film, wondering how Stallone, Li, and Statham - three guys who can't open a movie by themselves anymore - could make a bigger impression together. But casting Couture, who actually has a little acting experience over the past couple of years, will absolutely sell tickets. So kudos, Sly, you've not only made this project interesting all of a sudden, but you've given the fastest-growing sports fan base in the country a reason to go to the movies en masse.The Expendables will begin shooting in Brazil this March...and we still have to name a villain, I think.
