Ford, McAdams Find 'Morning Glory'

A week ago, Harrison Ford wasn't sure what he'd do next. He could either make a Jack Ryan movie - which is further off in the distance, even by Ford's admission - or he could make a drama about the pharmaceutical industry, or he could join a new comedy produced by J.J. Abrams.

He's chosen the comedy, called Morning Glory, which was written by Aline Brosh McKenna (The Devil Wears Prada). In the film, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Ford will play, "a grizzled old-school anchor in the Ted Koppel mold...who quits in disgust with the gossip-heavy direction of the evening newscast. He is then recruited by a hot up-and-coming producer to help revive a morning talk show, only to be paired with his rival."

The rival may still be Reese Witherspoon, although there's no mention of her in the article. That was the rumor at one time. However, there is additional casting news: Rachel McAdams will play the hot up-and-coming producer, which makes me wonder if that was actually the Witherspoon role. Still, I like Rachel and she needs to do another good comedy. And if Reese is still playing the other host, then all the better.

Perhaps the biggest surprise in all of this is that Bad Robot has hired Roger Michell (Venus) to direct. When you think about the tone of that picture, as well as some of its themes, it actually fits what we know of Morning Glory pretty well.

There's no production timeline yet for the comedy, so we can't really gauge when it might be in theaters. We'll keep you posted.
