Behind the Scenes of 'Valkyrie'

Tom Cruise has been more in the spotlight over the past couple of weeks than we've seen him in a couple of years. He is, of course, trying to earn back the trust of his audience after a series of bizarre incidents in the public eye. Also, his Mission: Impossible 3 didn't do the kind of business the other films in the series had, and Lions for Lambs was the biggest bomb he's probably ever had.

So, Cruise is playing nice with the media, not attack Matt Lauer, poking fun at himself the other night on Letterman, and opening up for the family photo spreads in the weekly tabloids. All of this...for a movie about Hitler.

Valkyrie would be a tough sell anyway, without Cruise's status at the moment, because the Nazis and Christmas aren't the best fit. But that's when we'll get Bryan Singer's new film, an effective potboiler that's based on a true story about an internal plot to assassinate Hitler.

Cruise stars as the man leading that charge, and he heads a great cast of talent that includes Kenneth Branagh, Bill Nighy, Tom Wilkinson, and Eddie Izzard. Take a look at an extended featurette for Valkyrie:

Valkyrie opens on December 25th, and I'm curious to see if the promise of an action-suspense-thrilla will find a big crowd over the holidays.

I'm glad you posted this, I can not wait till this movie comes out. I love reading book about Hiter, WWII, D-Day, etc. I hope this movie is going to be as awesome as it sounds.

Tom Cruise may be a nutcase, but this movie is excellent. I was able to watch valkyrie online for free at http://www.0daymovies.com/2008/12/31/watch-valkyrie-starring-tom-cruise-online-free/ and save myself $12.
