'Rosemary's Baby' Remake Remains Unborn

Oddly, of all the remakes they've been announcing lately, the one they're backing away from might have been the most interesting.

Collider reports that plans to remake the classic Rosemary's Baby have been scrapped by Platinum Dunes, the schlocksters responsible for most of the bad horror movies we've seen lately, plus the new Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street remakes. The company's Andrew Form says that in the end, the project just doesn't seem credible now:

"We went down that road and we even talked to the best writers in town and it feels like it might not be do-able. We couldn't come up with something where it felt like it was relevant and we could add something to it other than what it was, so we're now not going to be doing that film."

I'm happy that Platinum Dunes is off the scent of it, but still, how can you not find a way to make that relevant or compelling? If there is ever a decision to remake Roman Polanski's classic, I would hope it would be taken seriously and not just thrown out there for profit, which seems to be the entire thought process over at Platinum Dunes.

I wonder what they'll pick up to fill the hole in their production schedule. I vote for Pieces, a film that knew how bad it was, evidenced by the tag line, "It's exactly what you think it is." That sounds like it's right up their alley.
