Will Ferrell's 'Land of the Lost' Poster

There's a new poster for Will Ferrell's comic adventure, Land of the Lost, which is based on the old Sid and Marty Krofft TV series. This is exactly what it looks like:

I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, how can anything be cooler than the original Land of the Lost? Sleestacks shooting arrows all of about 14 inches, Cha-Ka, Wesley Eure's early screen credit that simply said "Wesley." That's gold, Jerry, gold!

On the other hand...uh...no, I can't think of how this might at all be cooler than the original. And I'm concerned about Will Ferrell starring in a $100 million effects-laden comedy. Call me crazy. I'd like it to be funny, but I'm not terribly optimistic.

Still to soon to tell, I guess, but I was hoping this would be cheesier. The poster looks like Jurassic Park meets The Great Outdoors.

Makes you pine for John Candy.

I'm disappointed that Land of the Lost is going to be a comedy. I'd much prefer to see a mature take on the Land of the Lost concept. I love the old TV show for it's sci-fi underpinnings and melodrama, not the goofiness that occasionally crept in.

If you're interested in Land of the Lost, you might want to visit my fan site with coverage of both versions of the TV series and the latest news on the upcoming movie.
