'Gilligan' Creator Wants Michael Cera for Three-Hour Tour

I don't really want a Gilligan's Island movie, do you? Thought so.

But you and I don't run movie studios, nor are we Sherwood Schwartz, the show's creator, because apparently, it's moving forward, with Schwartz telling TV Guide (via Movieweb) that a deal, "just happened in the last 48 hours. I can't take this much excitement."

Schwartz and his son already have their Gilligan: Michael Cera. And, all things being equal, that's pretty good casting. Still hate the idea of the movie, but it is good casting. And if you believe Dawn Wells, the original Mary Ann, Beyoncé' would be an ideal pick for Ginger because "there isn't anybody sexier than Beyoncé'!"

This already sounds a bit like the aborted Dallas movie, where they try to cast a popular TV show by looking at who's hot right now and how much marquee attention all those names would attract.

On the Michael Cera front, let's hope that any project he's in the running for, whether by his own efforts or someone else's, don't conflict with the Arrested Development movie. Presently, he might be the only thing holding up that film, and when creator Mitch Hurwitz was asked by Fancast about rumors that Cera and Will Arnett aren't on board, he dropped a major hint:

"I don’t want to talk about who is holding out right now because we might still work that out and I don’t want to pressure anyone through the press. Although I will say that Will Arnett is gung-ho, so there’s a big clue!"

What a terrible turn of events that would be.

Oops. That's obviously a mistake. I'll fix it.
