Watch Russell Crowe in the 'State of Play' Trailer

Once upon a time, Brad Pitt and Edward Norton were connected to a movie called State of Play. Long story short, they're not anymore. In their places are Russell Crowe and Ben Affleck, which doesn't have the same sizzle as re-teaming the principals from Fight Club.

But hope is not lost, because State of Play still has a good cast, when you factor in Helen Mirren and Rachel McAdams, and you recall that Affleck was actually really good in Hollywoodland a couple of years ago.

The film is about a politician embroiled in the case of his murdered mistress, and is based on a BBC mini-series from 2003. Kevin Macdonald (The Last King of Scotland) is directing, and the script is a joint effort from Matthew Michael Carnahan and Tony Gilroy (Michael Clayton), which is certainly not shabby.

If memory serves, this film was initially on the 2008 release calendar, but that's back before they had to re-cast the two leads. Now, State of Play will open April 17th.

They filmed in & around many of my hangouts, so I have to support DC and my friends.
Plus, i have to see if they made it in the film or ended up on the floor.
