Friday, December 26, 2008 at 5:03AM Trio of Hosts Named for Golden Globes
The award shows this winter are definitely going to have a different feel. First we learn that
Hugh Jackman will host the Oscars, and now,
Jake Gyllenhaal and
Glenn Close have been tapped to a
work the podium
at the 66th annual Golden Globes.

Hope is not lost, however;
Ricky Gervais will be the third wheel, having secured co-hosting duties for the event. But here's my question: Isn't Ricky Gervais kind of an all or nothing proposition? It seems to me that he should be one of maybe two comedians running the show, but to surround him with Gyllenhaal and Glenn Close seems like the show will have a "funny" section every hour and then a lot of, well, Glennenhaal.
There was talk once upon a time that Gervais might host the Oscars, since his three minutes on stage at the Emmy Awards was among that show's only highlights. I guess if there's good news for Gervais in being relegated to the Globes, it's not like anyone else there is going to really challenge him for laughs. This will be Gyllenhaal's first hosting gig, and Close, oddly enough, has some experience with something like this; she was an announcer for the Oscars back in 2002.Oh, and because I know you'll want to add it to your collection, here's the poster for this year's Globes:
